BOB PEDEN

Robert Burns wrote many beautiful poems, but one that jumps out at me today is entitled “To a Louse” with the subtitle, “On Seeing One On a Lady’s Bonnet at Church.”  I can’t help but wonder how many people are like this Robert Burns. They go to a church service and spend their time focused on the people around them. I think we need to raise our vision. We need to accept that churches are made up of humans, with all their flaws.

Attending a church service should be more than seeing and being seen; our focus should be on the One who is unseen.

This is Bob Peden of Central United Methodist Church. If you have not found a Christ centered church home, I would invite you to join us at Central. Sunday morning worship happens at 8:30 and 10:55. We are striving to be a church that isn’t just about us; a church that is about the God who calls us together.
