BOB PEDEN

When the children come to Jesus, the gospel of Mark tells us that Jesus accepted them “took them into his arms, placed his hands upon them, and blessed them.” In doing so, Jesus showed us that loving children is tactile…it involves our physical touch…it means that our hearts move our hands to bless, comfort, welcome, and encourage little ones.

While there are all sorts of ways of helping children through offering our money, real love finds a way to be tactile — to actually care for another personally, face-to-face, through human touch.

If we call ourselves followers of Jesus, then we must do as he did and reach out to those around us in need. We must get close enough to touch them, actually place our hands on them, and bless them in real touchable ways.

This is Bob Peden of Central United Methodist Church, and I challenge you to reach out to someone who needs a loving, caring touch today.
