The Revelation of John of Patmos is one of the most confounding books of the Bible. For one thing it is a type of writing, Apocalyptic Literature, the like of which has not been written in more than 15 hundred years.
For another, so much of what has been written and said about the book seems to assume it was written just for those of us who are alive today. This would assume that God did not intend the message in this book of the Bible to apply to Christians of the last 1900 years.
If you would like to come to a better understanding of the book of Revelation, and it's meaning for all Christians, I would encourage you to come to the seminar we will be hosting at Central United Methodist Church. It will begin Friday, March 23rd, at 3:00 pm and conclude at 6:00 pm on Saturday the 24th. Cost for the event including meals is 75 dollars. Leading the seminar will be Dr. Ben Witherington, professor of New Testament Studies at Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmore, Kentucky.
