DENNIS

Good Morning. I am Dennis Gossett with Central United Methodist Church.

The miracle of growth is something pretty astonishing. Just think about a

small seed that is put into the cold dark ground. With proper care, that seed

sprouts and a tiny green stalk fights its way to the surface. In the Gospels,

Jesus often referred to faith as being like a seed. It can start out very small, as

if it is barely hanging on. Like when we barely have enough faith to believe.

But soon, that faith carries us through those difficult times. We are like that

tiny stalk that fights its way to the surface.

As nature shows, once that stalk breaks the surface it doesn’t stop there. It

gets bigger and bigger, as now it fights its way toward the sky. The sun and

rain gives it growth, until it bares its own fruit. Faith in Jesus Christ gives us

such growth in our spiritual and physical lives. If you feel, as if your seed has

grown dormant, don’t give up. Be patient and soon growth will occur. If you

feel that you have reached the surface, but you are not growing. Do not worry

keep reaching upward. I invite you to come to Central where we are always

praying that the Son of God and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit will give

us renewed strength and growth for the days ahead. God bless.
