Good Morning, I am Kristina Crabtree Minister of Spiritual Formation at Central United Methodist Church.
I want to tell you a story about “The Empty Teacup. There is a story about a university professor who came to a Zen master to ask him about Zen. The Zen master served him tea. He poured his visitor’s cup full, and then kept pouring and pouring. The professor watched the overflow until he could no longer restrain himself. The professor said, it’s over-full, no more will go in. The Zen master said, like this cup you are full of your own opinions and speculations, how can I teach you unless you first empty your cup?”
Like the professor, we come to God as followers of his son wanting to have more knowledge about God to make us better Christians. But as the Zen master replied, you are full of your own stuff, and how true this is about our spiritual journey with God. Empty your teacup today and sit with the Lord for him to fill your cup thru his knowledge and wisdom.
