RAMBO

Hi!  I'm Bob Rambo, Lead Pastor at Central United Methodist Church.  This Sunday is Mother's Day, a day when we pause to remember and give thanks for our mothers.  This holiday came into being by a woman who wanted a way to show her gratitude for her mother and the mothers in her local church.  It soon became a national holiday.

I remember many years ago the late great Bear Bryant doing a commercial for the old Bell South phone company.  It aired each year around Mother's Day; in that distinctive “growl” he was famous for, Bear encouraged people to call home on Mother's Day.  He ended by saying “I wish I could call MY mama.”

Many of us can't call our mothers this Mother's Day.  But we CAN give thanks for them and LIVE in a way that would honor them.  And those of us who CAN call our mothers can CALL them AND honor our mothers in a way that would make them proud.

This Mother's Day - remember and give thanks for the mothers who have given us life and shaped us.

Make it a GREAT day.
