OWEN WEDDLE

Good morning! I am Owen Weddle, the Associate Pastor at Central United Methodist.

Nowadays, we have many voices that call out for our attention. Politicians and companies try to persuade us what we should do and how we

should act. But whether it is the Republicans or Democrats, we still experience tragedy and frustration. Or when we get that new top-of-the-

line product, it doesn't bring us the joy we hoped for. We receive their promises for doing this or that; but those promises can fail.

In the book of Acts, the disciples Peter and John had healed a man who could not walk and were preaching about Jesus. Many of the Jewish

leaders gathered together and saw the miracle, but they asked Peter and John not to preach about Jesus again. They responded, “Whether it is

right before God to obey you rather than God, you decide, for it is impossible for us not to speak about what we have seen and heard.” They

saw that great things were happening in Jesus name; they felt they should obey God over the Jewish authorities. What great things had the

priests done compared to healing a lame man?

Unlike other the promises from others, God is powerful and wise enough to heal our brokenness and mend our wounds. So who do you

ultimately obey?
