OWEN WEDDLE

Good morning! I am Owen Weddle, the Associate Pastor at Central United Methodist.

On this day in 1984, Steve Jobs and Apple released their first Macintosh computer. And so began one of the greatest commercial success

stories of the past few decades. One of the things that defined Steve Jobs is that he didn't make decisions based upon what people said they

wanted. He had the imagination and creativity to think in ways that no one understood.  Steve Jobs' genius was he gave people something they

didn't know they wanted.

The Gospel of Jesus Christ is like that. The reason Jesus' words are true isn't because it gives us something we think we want. The Gospel

plays a chord that our hearts never heard before. The Bible isn't true because it fulfills some checklist inspection beforehand that allows it to

be 'certified'; it is true because it reaches at something we have never really understood or felt. It takes the blinders off our eyes and lets us

truly see for the first time.

May God bless you!
