BOB

Good morning! This is Bob Peden of Central - A United Methodist Community in downtown Meridian. Today is April 15th, tax day, the day when all of our tax returns are due to the internal revenue service and to the state department of revenue. Our popular culture likes to look at this day and lament all of the wasted money and failed projects that our governments have created. But as a good citizen of our country and a faithful Christian, I choose to take this day to celebrate all the good that our governments accomplish.

For though there are waste and misuse, the funds we provide through our taxes pay for a strong military and police protections that give us a high level of security. These funds pay for highways and streets, for the education of children, the care of elderly and disabled people, and food and clothing for the children of those who are not able to provide those things for their children. So on this day, I choose to celebrate all of the good things our taxes make possible through our working together in this United States.
