BOB RAMBO

Hi!  I'm Bob Rambo, Lead Pastor at Central United Methodist Church.  We're now in a season of the year some Christians refer to as “Advent”.  “Advent” comes from a Latin word that means “coming” - because this time of year Christians are preparing to celebrate the “coming” of the one we believe is God's Son and the Savior of the world - Jesus of Nazareth.

Advent teaches us that the proper way to “prepare” for Christ's coming is by repentance and good works.  We remember the words of the Prophet Isaiah and John the Baptist - Prepare the way for the Lord!  And the way we do that is by turning FROM those things that separate us from God and turning TO those things that please God.

Many of us are “preparing” for Christmas right now.  We're searching for the perfect gift, we're making special foods for friends and family, we're decorating our homes with lights.  And all of that is good.

But don't forget to prepare your heart to welcome Christ.  Don't overlook the necessity of opening our lives and letting Christ live in us.

How are YOU preparing for Christmas?
